Different Kinds of Aerial Lift
Aerial lifts are a particular type of heavy equipment that enables employees to be raised into the air. These machines could be used to perform maintenance and repairs in areas which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Like nearly all devices, there are different types of aerial lifts that can be used to carry out various jobs. For the utmost safety, each kind of different type of machine requires right training and specific qualifications before operation.

Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are usually referred to as Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic type of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform that is raised up using pneumatic power and are mostly utilized for indoor applications. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven similar to big carts. Normally, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone can use these tools, workers must be licensed as operators.

Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are much more complicated pieces of aerial lift machine. A boom lift has a wide base to be able to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket that enables the operator to lower and hoist the bucket. As the arm of the boom is jointed, it could also move from side to side. The boom lift looks like a tail of a metal scorpion. Traditionally, it is used in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate than scissor lifts, therefore, operators need to be licensed individually for these kinds of lifts.
