Narrow Aisle Forklifts
Several lift trucks are especially made to fit down very narrow aisles in a warehouse. These models are referred to as narrow aisle lift trucks. They could negotiate smaller aisles with ease and enable you to enjoy some advantages. Like for example, the increased amount of area to keep things could really increase a company's overall available stock.
The narrow aisle forklift is made to maneuver rather easily, since they are engineered specially to work in tight spaces. Their different design has eliminated a lot of the things that are squished up into the design of the conventional forklift's main body.
The disadvantage of narrow aisle forklifts is that they are really slow compared to standard lift trucks. Narrow aisle lift trucks would not work if you need to move items across long distances. In terms of speed they will not be a reliable choice. If you also have a standard lift truck, this will not be an issue. You could just use the narrow aisle forklift to transport the load to a central location and afterward hand it off to a standard lift truck that can travel the bulk of the distance in an efficient and timely method. Usually, narrow aisle lift trucks cannot handle as much lifting weight; thus, outside of smaller loads they are not going to be very useful.
Electric Forklifts
Traditional gas forklifts are not a suitable choice for indoor operations such as warehouses or stores. They would not be as safe due to their fumes, or as helpful or cost-efficient than an electric powered unit. Electric lift trucks are often designed to look and function a lot like gas ones, but they depend on electric batteries which have to be recharged, instead of gasoline fuel.
Electric forklifts are popular for a range of reasons. For starters, they would save you a lot of money on fuel expenses. At first, electric units might cost more but eventually, they make up for this in the long run. For example, when gas prices go up, you will save lots of cash as you would not be affected. Electric units tend to last somewhat a bit longer than gas powered units also. This is partly due to the fact they are mainly used inside and thus don't get as dirty or work in as harsh settings as the gas powered units. Electric models are healthier to use in poorly ventilated areas like warehouses and indoor applications as they don't emit noxious fumes. It could be extremely dangerous to use diesel or gas forklifts inside.
The electric forklift does have several disadvantages like the fact that they could really just work for approximately 8 hours. Afterward the machinery would need to be charged for 8 hours and rested for another 8 hours. Lots of companies get around this condition by purchasing a spare battery so they could have less downtime and continually cycle them. There are fast charge batteries available on the market which are also minimizing the charging time.
