History
In the year 1919, Salzgitter Maschinenbau AG was started. The company was founded by Anton Raky, an engineer and pioneer in oil drilling and modern drilling technology. The company's original name was Anton Raky, Tiefbohrungen in Salzgitter.
The cornerstone for SMAG was laid in the year 1937, when the Salzgitter Group acquired a manufacturing facility for its constructing drilling machinery.
