How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, because the ease of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind when trying to perform tasks which could have otherwise needed utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the best choice for completing tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries would have to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
The machine has to be parked next to an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button found inside the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, older units will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and afterward plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger could potentially occur.
