Forklift accidents are often due to the careless use of the forklift. This occurs when the operator of the forklift is not properly trained in safety measures. Anybody operating a forklift should always be cautious to be able to reduce the possibility of accidents and in order to prevent potential dangers.

On average, every three days somebody dies in a forklift mishap within the United States. About 95,000 injuries happen in forklift related mishaps each year. The vast majority of these mishaps could have been prevented if proper safety measures had been followed. There are even internet sites committed to reporting stories of forklift mishaps.
Both individuals and businesses suffer as a result of forklift accidents. There are a lot of reasons why employers need to take steps to minimize the risk. Amongst the biggest reasons is to avoid risk of lawsuits if somebody is injured. Second, accidents cut down on working time. Thirdly, merchandise and property can be damaged during mishaps. Nearly all mishaps are attributed to workers who are not trained. Employers are responsible for making sure that all staff who are using the forklift are trained in safety and risks. Never let anyone on a forklift who isn't correctly trained to operate the forklift. Your business should develop and post in a place which is visible all forklift safety procedures.
Employees should have a positive attitude when they go through training, rather than doing it just because they are required to. You as the employer must help staff know the importance of proper training. Let them know that they can kill or injure not just themselves, but other people, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to make sure that all your employees undertake training seriously.
