The Carriage
The carriage is like a typical lift truck because the lifting attachment could be tilted backwards and forwards from its horizontal. The tilt that is possible on this machinery exceeds more than that of the vertical masts. There is a huge range of lifting attachments available, and this ability to position makes them as efficient as possible.
Nearly all telehandlers could tilt forward to a point where the carriage is actually parallel with the ground believe it or not! In addition, a lot of units provide rotating carriages also. This enables the operator to adjust the lifting attachment radially. This translates to the load being able of being tilted backwards and forwards, as well as side to side.
Load Capacity
Knowing the load capacity of a telehandler is a much different exercise than it is on a vertical mast unit. The capacity of the unit is totally dependent on such things as: boom extension and angle, whether the unit is lifting on outriggers or on rubber tires, and the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable. Moreover, which lifting attachment plays a very important part, as does the wind, the grade the equipment is operating on etc. All of these specifics could be changing regularly and this gives the operator a lot more information to think about.
Telehandlers would often have some different load charts available to them, giving them a good reference they can use to know a certain lift's load capacity. Depending on the model in particular and the configuration of the boom, the load capacity may differ by thousands of pounds all together.
