Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the types of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whilst Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn in the aisle. There are several aisle widths to take into consideration with various units.
Very Narrow Aisle or VNA trucks work in less than 6 feet areas and normally utilize certain guidance systems like optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel in the aisles. Several various models of VNA trucks consist of Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are common models in compact retail spaces and in some warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks could operate in aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Usually these are stand-up units like Reach Trucks. They are commonly used within storage facilities and warehouses.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work within aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up units provide padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are made to lessen operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the driver is really large and has an 8" low step height that helps lessen overall body fatigue by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest together with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and thus more effective while limiting fatigue.
