Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to store supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck comes in several types: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This version consists of telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet needs to go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular version is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In the majority of warehouses, there are usually more than one kind of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and could increase production while making the most of available storage space.
